Antone Rodríguez Berastegui
Camera, Directing, Photography
Bélgica

Born in 1988, he lives and works in his birth city of Brussels (Belgium).

Initially fueled by his love for cinema, Antone Rodríguez Berastegui joined the collective ‘Les films à Rayures’ at the age of 17. This collective, which exclusively shot in super 8, allowed him to create numerous short films and a medium-length film. Within the collective, he also took on the role of a projectionist during performances, blurring the lines between happening and cinema.

Gradually shifting from a purely cinematographic practice to a plastic one, Antone Israel incorporates conceptual, narrative, and formal elements inspired and codified by cinema into his sculptural and installation works.

After studying at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, participating in several exhibitions, holding a curatorial position at the ASBL Project(ion) Room, and engaging in diverse and varied artistic endeavours, he now exclusively dedicates himself to his role as a visual artist. He explores the conceptual implications of the moving image and its various perceptual constructions and deconstructions through installation, video, film, and writing.
