La otra cara

«La otra cara» arises from the reflection of the Chilean hundred peso coin, an everyday object that goes from hand to hand and which in this case has the face of a Mapuche woman engraved on it. In what would be a tribute to the native peoples, as can be read on the same coin, it seems more like a mockery. A tribute to the Mapuche people by the Chilean state is totally ironic, given that historically their relationship has been in permanent conflict, where repression and denial have always been present. From this reflection I made a hammer with the word “Chile” inscribed, concentrating on this object the abuse of power. Repeating the action of hammering the coin, until the face of the Mapuche woman is completely erased.
